Over the past months, we’ve written quite a few PDF manuals for you, on all kinds of diverging subjects, including BitTorrent, iTunes, iPhone, Twitter, Mac, Linux, Photoshop and several other topics.

Initially available only for subscribers, there are now multiple manuals released every month, for everyone to enjoy. After releasing 15 manuals and nearly half a million downloads we thought it was about time to look back and review what has been published so far.

#1. Decluttering Your Homepage

If you're like me, then you hate it when your homepage gets cluttered with all the junk activity of your friends playing games on facebook. You know what I mean. Those "So and so robbed Don Purtino's mafia in Mafia Wars" or "Blah caught a Scavenger mouse in MouseHunt". No offense to those who play these games, I'm sure they're lots of fun, but the rest of us don't want our homepage to be filled with these stories that we can't see our friends' important activities amidst all the clutter.

Here's the good news: You can configure your homepage so it doesn't display these stories anymore! If you hover your mouse on a story on your homepage, a Hide tab will appear on its upper right corner. Click on it and you are given two options: (1) Hide the person publishing the story or (2) Hide the application the story is from. I usually hide the application. In our examples above, that would be: Hide Mafia Wars and Hide MouseHunt. Voila! You will never see Mafia Wars and MouseHunt on your homepage again! Nice, huh?

How to Build a Laptop

How do you build a computer?

When it comes to buying a computer, it is never an easy choice. First, you have to decide if you want a laptop or desktop computer. Once you have chosen a laptop, you have to decide where to buy one, what you want it to do for you and more. However, during those processes, to build a laptop from scratch is generally never an option consumers consider. While it seems like building a laptop might be something out of your league, it does not have to be with a little time, skill and effort. There are instructions online, and in books, on how to build a laptop to help anyone through the process, but there is another option to consider and that comes in the form of a build to order laptop

As you can see, there are two primary ways to build a laptop: You can build a laptop yourself or you can build a custom laptop through a company, such as Hewlett-Packard or Dell. The first option is achievable although it might prove to be cumbersome and overwhelming for some. In order to build a custom laptop through a manufacturer, you can either visit their web site or stores in order to place an order for a laptop that meets your specifications. Either way, you can find the right solution for your laptop needs.

What next?

So, let us start with the basic question on your mind: Should you build a laptop by yourself or not? It seems like a simple question, but it really is not. There are several factors to take into consideration on how to build a laptop. How to build your own laptop is not an easy thing to do. That is the first thing you must understand. It can be expensive, time consuming as well as touch and go. You may make many mistakes before you come up with something that works. You need to understand that before you seriously begin to consider doing it yourself. While it is doable, it may not be within your budget, means or skills to do so successfully. If you take a realistic approach to build a laptop, you will be ready to take on the challenge

Building Your Laptop From Scratch

(This is merely a rough guide to building your own laptop from scratch using a barebones laptop as a guide. If you are truly serious about doing it yourself, you will want to do further research for more in-depth and accurate instructions, including pictures to help you on your way.)

There are four primary components you want to gather before you begin to build a laptop: A barbones notebook system, a central processing unit, memory chipsets and a hard drive. The three former parts will all be based on the type of barebones system you initial purchase. Once you have all the components, you are ready to begin assembling your custom laptop.

Have you ever seen those moving pictures on forums? Not the videos, of course, but next to people’s names you’ll sometimes find a picture with repeated motion. These are called animated gifs. They aren’t too hard to make, they look great, and you should try to make your own sometime! This is how you can do it.

Animated GIFs follow the basic principle of videos, but they don’t take it nearly as far. Essentially, they string together several frames to make a simple repeated motion. For example, you might see a horse running, or a plane flying. These are motions that are easy to show by playing the same frames over and over.

How to Open a Rar File

tinjin

You just received a file through your computer that has an extension you've never seen before. It's a "Rar" file. What is this thing? And more importantly, how can you open it to see what it is that someone you know has sent to you? Don't worry; the name may be strange and the file may be different but the process for opening it is something that you've probably done plenty of times before. And even if you haven't, it's a relatively easy thing to learn how to do.

Is it safe to dispose of your HD at home?

It is more than acceptable to dispose of your hard drive disk at home. Most people just throw their computers in the trash when they purchase a new one, or they scrap certain parts and leave the rest in the dumpster. When it comes down to it, just throwing away your HD is not enough in today's world. Dumpster divers, con artists and hackers can use that hard drive and mine data on it that could include bank account, credit card and other information to steal your identity, money and life.

What does it mean?

It is every computer owner's nightmare. You are working on your computer and you hear an odd beeping coming from your unit. Sometimes you may not even notice it until it begins to grate on your nerves, other times it starts out very noticeable, either way, it is never a good sign when your computer starts beeping at you when running. This usually indicates a problem with your BIOS, and it could also mean the end of your computer if not taken seriously.
